Antonio Campos-Caro graduated in Biology in 1991 from the University of Seville, and took his doctorate at the Neuroscience Institute of the University of Alicante (1996), with his thesis being awarded the "extraordinary prize" in 1997.

In 1999 he was financed with a contract from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (now called Miguel Servet). Since then he took the responsibility of forming his group as PI and Coordinator of the Research Unit of the University Hospital "Puerta del Mar". Since 2013 he has been the scientific coordinator of the Andalusian Biobank Node at this Hospital and since 2017 he has also been a member and Head of the Inflammation line at the INiBICA Institute.
