My research career is marked by excellence and internationalization. I completed my BA (1993) and my PhD (2001) in the University of Cadiz with the highest honors, and I have obtained the following scholarships and research contracts: Pre-doctoral FPU (1996-2000), Postdoctoral MECD-Università degli Studi della Tuscia/Viterbo (2002-2004), Postdoctoral Fundación Caja Madrid (2005-2006), "Ramón y Cajal" research fellow contract (2007-2012) and a Researcher Doctor Contract (2012). Since 2012 I teach Prehistory at the UCA as Associate Professor. I have obtained the I3 certification of research excellence (ANEP) and the accreditations for the figures of Lecturer (ANECA and AGAE) and Associate Professor (ANECA). I have gained recognition for 3 six-year periods of uninterrupted research (1997-2014) and for the 5 autonomous government research periods. I received the Research Excellence / Woman Award (UCA 2019). Since my early stages I have published in journals and publishers of recognized prestige and impact, I have participated in international conferences, projects financed in official calls (national and international) and I belong to the most prominent Phoenician scientific associations: Representative of the UCA and member of the scientific committee of the Route of the Phoenicians, CEFYP (since 1997), CEPO (1998), IPPSA (2009) and OCTOPPUS (Oxford, 2017). I am also member of the Research Sub-Committee of the UCA in the SEA-EU consortium.
The international projection of my career is based on the relations and contacts with groups, teams and institutions since my postdoctoral period, materialized in the form of participation in projects, joint publications and official collaboration agreements. I have enjoyed pre-doctoral research stays in Italy, the United Kingdom and Portugal and post-doctoral stays in France and the United Kingdom. Key among them are the two stays at Oxford University (2015 and 2017), the last one within the Salvador de Madariaga Programme (evaluation 9.8/10) and the participation in international excavation campaigns in Sardinia, Sicily and Tunisia. This has resulted in invitations to participate in international scientific meetings and the possibility of bringing together a team of different nationalities composed by renowned specialists in their respective fields and with significant projection. In December 2017 I organized the X International Colloquium of the Centre for Phoenician and Punic Studies (CEFYP). I am the PI of an R&D project of the National Plan (2019-2021), with an associated pre-doctoral contract and since 2015 of the HUM-509 Research Group of the PAI. I have applied as a partner for a European Horizon 2020 Project (Call: H2020-SC6-TRANSFORMATIONS-2018-2019-2020).
My main achievements are related to my doctoral thesis, which represented an important advance for the knowledge of the last pre-Roman moments in the extreme-west at a general level and the full acceptance of the conclusions of my study by the scientific community, becoming a scientific reference for research and giving rise to numerous contributions (monographs, articles, including successive updates).
It is worth mentioning the opening of other historiographic-revisionist research lines, the incorporation of new theoretical and methodological approaches and multidisciplinary analysis, and the projection at a didactic level, of dissemination and transfer. All this activity has been materialized in several monographs, numerous articles in prestigious journals, interventions in congresses and the organization of two international scientific meetings and another one in preparation. All this information is being integrated into broader models of historical explanation and its dissemination and popularization.
I have been responsible for tutoring several TFM and TFG, students in curricular and external internships, collaborating students and visiting researchers/students. A Youth Guarantee contract associated with the Group (2nd call / 2018-2019) stands out. I have directed 2 doctoral theses and I am currently directing another one.
