It is specialized in reproduction, embryonic phases, quarantine and maintenance of the main species of Spanish marine fish farming, molluscs of commercial interest and the cultivation of microalgae. The services offered include cultivation techniques for marine species, as well as carrying out projects and technical advice in branches related to the techniques of the service itself. The main lines of research developed are related to physiology and pathology in aquaculture, osmoregulatory systems and interaction with energy metabolism, studies of stress systems in teleosts and the use of probiotics in aquaculture, environmental toxicology and analytics, applied microbiology and molecular genetics, environmental quality control of the marine environment, wastewater treatment with microalgae, photobioreactors, etc. Structurally, it is divided into the Marine Fish Production and Experimentation Service and the Microalgae Production and Experimentation Service.
