Composition of Joint Unit of Research, if relevant

The group has extensive experience in the synthesis of materials for magnetic and optical sensors by sol-gel, by dip-coating and sputtering, in its magnetic, optical and nanotextural characterization by magnetometry, ellipsometry and AFM, as well as in, magnetic and semiconducting, nanoparticles and thin films for biomedical and environmental applications, lines reinforced by new expert members in chemical and laser ablation nanoparticles synthesis and in the development of instrumentation based on magneto-optical techniques for space and medical applications.

His PhD thesis dealt with chalcogenide amorphous semiconductors. After a post-doc stay at UMD (USA), He focused on magnetic materials studied by magnetometry, FMR and AFM/MFM. He co-founded in 2002 the group Applied Magnetism and Optics and began working on composite materials with iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) for magneto-optical sensors. After that, several sensing, biomedical and environmental applications of magnetic and semiconducting NPs and thin films were explored, collaborating with other groups. He is responsible for Magnetometry and AFM/STM laboratories at IMEYMAT and Coordinator for the PhD Program on Nanoscience and Materials Technologies, UCA.
