The Group's activity has focused above all on the study of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada: its writers, its poets, its kings, scientists, its relations with North Africa, etc.
Work has also been done on minorities: Mozarabs, Jews, Eastern Christians, women, etc.
Important works of edition and translation of Arabic texts of a historical, literary, religious nature, etc. have also been carried out.

Prof. Ángel C. LÓPEZ Y LÓPEZ trained at the University of Granada, where he graduated in Semitic Philology, and later at the CSIC, where he completed his Doctoral Thesis on Agronomy in al-Andalus. Subsequently, he was Professor of Arabic Language at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and since 1995 he is Professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Cádiz.
He has devoted his research work to several main lines:
- Agronomy in al-Andalus.
- Study of social minorities in al-Andalus (Mozarabs, Mudejars, Moors, Jews, women, homosexuals, etc.)
- The Arab Literature of al-Andalus.
- The Nasrid kingdom of Granada, etc.
He has directed two theses and three doctoral theses, and has been part of numerous courts of thesis, doctoral thesis, TFG's and TFM's
1.- ARAB CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION: THE STUDY OF LANGUAGE, LITERATURE, HISTORY AND SCIENCE IN ALANDALUS AND THE MAGREB.
2.-HISTORY OF ANDALUSIA: MOZÁRABES OF ANDALUSIA AND ITS HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE LATIN-CHRISTIAN AND ARABIC-MUSLIM CULTURES.
3. STUDY OF THE CULTURAL DEMONSTRATIONS OF GRANADA NAZARÍ IN THE CONTEXT OF ITS RELATIONS WITH NORTH AFRICA.
