Research on the ancient city Carissa Aurelia in Southern Spain and its microregion:
The ancient city of Carissa, probably founded in the 6th century BC, is about 60km northeast of Cádiz. With its long settlement continuity, which experienced many political turning points, the area is particularly attractive for researching political, cultural, economic and other scenarios. Both partners (Kiel and Cadiz) have undertaken archaeological research at the site and together plan a workshop in February 2025. The aim of the workshop is to bring together scientists for the first time to discuss and share their knowledge. Results will be made available to the research community as an open access publication.
