University professor, member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine, the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis (SEA), and the European Society of Arteriosclerosis (EAS). Member for many years of the Research Committee of the H. U. Puerta del Mar, Evaluator of the Technical Commissions of the FIS (cardiovascular diseases), Member of the Scientific Committee of the SEA and President, Vice President and Secretary of various National Congresses of the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis. Member of the Editorial Committee of the Revista Clínica e Investigación en Arteriosclerosis (Official Publication of the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis and of the Latin American and Iberolatin American Societies of Arteriosclerosis), closely linked to the line of research developed over all these years. She has been a member of Knowledge Assessment Agencies Committees, and currently belongs to the ACSUG. Professor linked to the University Hospital Puerta del Mar (HUPM) in Cadiz, he is responsible for the Vascular Risk Factors Unit, and the Lipid Unit. He has four recognised six-year periods of research (CNEAI), and his research activity has intensified over the last 8 years together with other members of the team. For years, he has directed several research projects and clinical trials in relation to dyslipidemia and complications of atherosclerosis, achieving relevant results in the scientific community that have led to collaboration in the drafting of several Clinical Practice Guidelines. He has recognized 8 sections of teaching activity, with a wide experience that translates into the direction of more than 30 Doctoral Theses. He has been Director of the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of Cadiz for years, and currently belongs to the Academic Committee of the Doctorate and is Director of the Department of Medicine.
