Daniel Sanchez-Morillo is a Doctor by the University of Cadiz (UCA) and a Telecommunications Engineer by the Superior Technical School of Engineering of Seville since 2000. He started his professional career in the private sector (2000-2010) and since 2017 he is University Professor in the area of Systems Engineering and Automation. His research activity has been developed within the Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine Research Group (IBT) that he now coordinates, and his research interests focus on the application of artificial intelligence techniques for the generation of predictive models in e-health and in the processing and analysis of biomedical signals and images.

The Research Group on Biomedical Engineering and Telemedicine (IBT) is a multidisciplinary group composed of researchers from the University of Cadiz from the field of engineering (telecommunications, industrial, computer science) and participated by researchers and professionals from the Public Health System of Andalusia (pathologists, and ophthalmologists, and with close collaboration with pulmonologists). It is hosted by the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería. It was created in 2007, within the framework of the Andalusian Research Plan and has been assigned the TIC-212 identifier.
In the last official evaluation, the IBT group was placed as the first group of the University of Cadiz in the field of information technology and communications (ICT).
Among the objectives and purposes of the IBT group are to integrate the physical, mathematical and life sciences with the principles of engineering for the study of biology, medicine and health systems and for the application of technology to improve health and quality of life. The group has solid research experience through its participation in regional, national, and international research projects.
