J. Bolívar got his PhD (1997) in Biochem & Mol Biology (BQ&MB) at the University of Cádiz (UCA) working on the search of new human autoantigens by screenings human EST libraries.
During 1999-2000 he worked on Drosophila development in Dr González-Reyes’ lab at the LMB-MRC, Cambridge, UK. He later started collaboration with Prof. María Domínguez (I. of Neuroscience, Alicante) on cancer, using Drosophila as a model organism.
In 2003 he obtained a permanent position in the UCA in BQ&MB and lead a proyect on the human autoantigen ZNF330/NOA36.
In 2012 he started a succeful collaboration with the TEP-105 group on the optimization of E. coli by metabolic engeeniering for several biotransformation processes.
