The Study on the 18th Century Group, of the University of Cadiz, integrated by academics of national and international research centres, pursues an interdisciplinary study of the 18th and 19th centuries, with special attention to the transit between one century and another, although it also addresses some of the issues that are projected into the 20th and 21st centuries. Furthermore, this group is integrated in the Institute of Research in Hispanic World Studies (In-EMHis), of the University of Cadiz, approved by the Governing Council in July 2018 and in the process of evaluation and approval by the Andalusian Government.

Professor of Spanish Literature since 2000. She has 4 SEXENIUMS. She got her PhD at the UCA with a thesis on the literary tale in the 19th century. She is the Responsible Researcher of the Study Group of the 18th century, and director of the IN-EMHis. She is the IP of the project "Reading and writing the nation: myths and literary imaginaries of Spain (1831-1879" (FFI2017-82177-P) and was the IP of the Spanish press at the time of the Cortes de Cádiz. Since 2018 she has been a project evaluator for the National State Research Agency. She has collaborated as a member of the team in a dozen research projects including The Literary Culture of Spanish Exiles in the First Half of the 19th Century (FFI2013-40584-P), The Spanish Press at the Time of the Cortes de Cádiz, History of Spanish Literature between 1808 and 1833 and The Cortes de Cádiz and the Liberal Revolution in Andalusia and Latin America. A comparative framework. She has also been responsible for different contracts and collaboration scholarships with institutions and founding partner of the SPIN-OFF Paraíso doceañista.
Between September 1 and November 30, 2019, she has carried out a research stay at King's College London and previously a three-month stay at the TELEMMe Institute of the Université Aix-Marseille (April 10 to July 10, 2019).
He has published more than 25 articles in national and international scientific journals (Bulletin Hispanique, España contemporánea de Ohio University, Crítica Hispánica, Edad de oro, Revista de literatura, Ínsula, Siglo XIX), more than 15 books and more than 30 book chapters, with a focus on Spanish literature of the 18th and 19th centuries, in particular the short story and literature published in the periodical press. She is currently researching the impact on the literary outlook of the technical innovations introduced in the visual culture of the 19th century, the relationship between fiction and political discourse in the 19th century, and literature written by women.
In the last 5 years she has supervised a thesis: González Rueda, Author's Literary Foundations: Cultural Management and Literature. Proposal of a model of relationship from the study of the Literary Foundations of the Province of Cadiz, UCA, 2018. and co-directed 2: Martinez Baro, Los sueños literarios en España entre 1808 y 1814: essayismo, satira y ficciones oníricas, UCA, 2013 and Román López, Las empresas periodísticas del Barón de la Bruère. She has been Vice-Rector of University Extension (UCA, 1-6-2007 to 12-7-2011) and Secretary of the Department of Philology (UCA).
