The research group "Estudios de literatura española contemporánea", HUM330, works on the history and criticism of Spanish literature with a special focus on the Andalusian literary heritage, narrative and poetry studies, the recovery of epistolary and oral tradition texts, the sociology of current literature and the relations between writing and memory. The group is consolidated and has been growing. At present it is made up of thirteen researchers, twelve of whom are doctors. The academic publications and the theses directed indicate the consolidation of these lines of work.

José Jurado Morales is a Doctor in Hispanic Philology and Professor of Spanish Literature at the University of Cádiz, where he directs the «Contemporary Spanish Literature Studies» Research Group and the «Current Literature Seminar», as well as coordinating the «Andalusian Literature Online» website of the Atalaya project of the Andalusian Regional Government. His field of research is focused on Spanish literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, with special attention to poetry and narrative from the post-war period to the present day.
