I am a theoretical linguist, working as Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at Nord University in Norway. I received a PhD in linguistics from MIT in 2020, and came to Norway in 2024. I research linguistic theory with a focus on syntax, morphology, and the general principles of language. I do this using data from English and many other languages

This group focuses on the scientific study of language in a broad sense, including general linguistics, theoretical linguistics, linguistic fieldwork, and linguistics in education. Research in linguistics has discovered a great deal about linguistic knowledge, across domains such as phonetics/phonology (sounds), morphology (word formation), syntax (sentence structure), semantics (meaning), and the process by which they are learned. Our group contains researchers who are experts in all of these domains, among others. We contribute to research on such topics through the scientific investigation of human language in general, and of particular languages. This includes languages of focus for Nord University and Norway such as English, Norwegian, and the Saami languages, as well as any other languages of interest for linguistics in general. The group holds regular meetings which serve as a venue for events such as project presentations, research collaborations, discussions of scientific articles, and invited speakers. Our events are hosted at Nord University’s Bodø campus, and allow online participation. We welcome interested members regardless of their academic level or university affiliation.
