EDUCATION: Degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Granada, 1981  Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery (University of Granada, 1988) Master's Degree in Infectious Diseases from the University of Seville, 2013 Master's Degree in Clinical Unit Management from the University of Murcia, 2016
TEACHING ACTIVITY: University Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Cadiz, from 1991 to 2009. University Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Cadiz, from 2009 to present
Undergraduate teaching. Direction of Doctorate Programmes and participation in the Master of Biomedicine (University of Cadiz). Direction of 37 Doctoral Theses, six of them deserving of the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.

ASSISTANT ACTIVITY: University Professor linked to the Puerta del Mar University Hospital, Cadiz, since 1991. From 2013 Head of Internal Medicine Service. Accreditation excellent level by the Agency of Health Quality of Andalusia (2012)  
RESEARCH ACTIVITY:
Main research lines: analysis of inflammatory and immune activity in infectious diseases (mainly HIV and hepatitis C virus infection) and in autoimmune diseases  
Funding, obtained uninterruptedly from Public Agencies (mainly FIS and the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health) since 1991; in a total of 14 projects I am a PI of the same: 7 FIS Projects, 1 FIPSE Project, 7 Projects from the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health or Progreso y Salud Foundation.  
Publications: Up to April 2020, 130 articles have been published in journals collected by the JCR, with a number of citations received of 3163 and an h index of 28.
