Dr. L. Lafuente has a MSc degree in Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1999) and a PhD in Complex Systems Physics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) (2004). He has also been a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2006 and 2008. He has been a professor and researcher at UC3M, MIT, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad de Sevilla and Universidad de Cádiz. His interests lie on the frontier between mathematics, physics and engineering.

The Mathematical Engineering group is a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary group with researchers from diverse backgrounds. The group works on the modeling of complex engineering systems with applications in aeronautics, manufacturing, materials science and engineering, energy efficiency and industry 4.0, among others. We have great capacity for carrying out computer simulations, as well as for purely theoretical developments. In the field of transfer we collaborate with several companies such as NAVANTIA, Airbus and Acerinox.
