The International Law and International Relations team has been carrying out research activities in international and European matters related to the Strait of Gibraltar region for more than 20 years. These are topics related to borders, immigration, sovereignty, international and cross-border cooperation, the Gibraltar dispute, relations with Morocco, and in general, legal and international issues of the Strait of Gibraltar region.
***R&D PROJECTS-- 4 R&D projects, 2005-2019. The last 3 (2009, 2012 and 2015) obtained a final rating by the Ministry of "VERY SATISFACTORY".
The Research Project selected by the Andalusian Studies Centre currently in force is 'The impact of Brexit on cross-border cooperation between Gibraltar - Campo de Gibraltar and Andalusia' 2020-2022, IP Dr. González García
***Academic Journals-- The team publishes since 2013 the international electronic journal 'Paix et Sécurité internationales' - Journal of International Law and International Relations, with the University of Tangier
And since 2015 the team publish the online Journal 'Cuadernos de Gibraltar / Gibraltar Reports'
Likewise, the Team has the collection of books "Serie de Estudios Internacionales y Europeos de Cádiz", with the Editorial Dykinson of Madrid
***JEAN MONNET CHAIRS AND MODULES -- The team has had a Jean Monnet Chair from the European Commission since 2000. In 2006 another Jean Monnet Chair on 'Immigration and Borders under EU Law' was awarded, again to Dr. Alejandro del Valle Gálvez.
2 JEAN MONNET MODULES granted: "The EU and European External Action towards Latin America, Eastern Europe and Russia" 2015-2017 and the Module "Immigration and Human Rights in the Southern European Borders" 2016-2018, being the coordinators Drs Gonzalez García and Acosta Sánchez
**** JEAN MONNET CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE The European Commission has granted for the period 2017-2021 the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence 'Immigration and Human Rights at European External Borders'. It is a European and transnational centre for training, research and dissemination on issues of immigration, borders and human rights, with a strong projection in the border area of southern Europe.
Within the framework of the Centre of Excellence, the Official Bilingual Master's Degree in International Relations and Migrations (International and European Studies) is taught
