HUM993 Spanish and American Grammar Studies

Victoriano Gaviño Rodríguez is Professor of Spanish Language at the University of Cádiz. His main lines of research are the descriptive grammar of Spanish, an area in which he has published works related to the study of syntactic phenomena in current Spanish (cause, purpose, discursive particles...) and linguistic historiography, where in recent years he has been carrying out intense research work in relation to Spanish grammar and the study of linguistic ideas in the press of the 19th century, an area in which he is the IP for two competitive research projects, one from the Ministry of Universities and the other from the Andalusian Regional Government. He has carried out research and teaching stays in many foreign universities (Princeton University, Freie Universität Berlin, University College Dublin, Helsingin Yliopisto, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Libera Università degli studi Internazionali di Roma, Göteborgs Universitet, Masarykova univerzita, Universitetet i Bergen, Universidade de Lisboa, Uniwersytet Jagiellonski, Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, etc. ) and he has an extensive teaching career, as well as experience in the field of Spanish language teaching and teacher training. He is currently Director of the Department of Philology at the University of Cadiz and academic director of the course Spanish Civilization, Literature and Language, taught to students at the University of Washington within the framework of the NW-Cadiz Program.
