The Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation (CiTUR) is a R&D unit of the national higher education polytechnic subsystem that brings together 17 institutions (universities and polytechnics), and involves more than 200 researchers. It conducts multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary applied research as well as producing and sharing scientific knowledge in tourism.
It aims to be a leader in applied research, development and innovation and to be recognised by civil society and business for its superior ability to generate and share knowledge in tourism. CiTUR Algarve is one of the six hubs of CiTUR.
Ana Isabel Renda is a lecturer at the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of the Algarve. She has taught since 1992 in the social sciences, tourism, marketing and human resources areas. She holds a PhD in Tourism from the Faculty of Economics/University of the Algarve. She has a first degree in Social Communication from the Technical University of Lisbon (ISCSP), a postgraduate degree in Business Marketing from the University of the Algarve and a postgraduate degree in Tendencias Actuales de la Administración Empresarial from the University of Huelva. Her main research fields are related to perceptions of tourism impacts, tourism development, quality of life in tourist destinations and rural tourism. She has presented papers in several national and international scientific meetings and has published scientific articles within tourism in national and international journals. She has also acted as a scientific reviewer of papers submitted to conferences in marketing and tourism areas.
Territory and Tourist Destinations - Focused on tourism policy tools adopted by local governments and their impact on local tourism development. It also includes transport networks and infrastructures.
