Professor at the University of Algarve since 2007, in health and education thematic areas. Graduate and Master in Speech Therapy and PhD in Voice, Language, and Communication from the University of Lisbon.

Also a researcher at the Linguistics Center of the University of Lisbon (CLUL). She develops scientific activity in the relationship between otitis media and the linguistic development of preschool children and has dedicated herself to the scientific study of Speech Sound Disorders.

Committed to bringing science to the community in general simply and concretely, it is also dedicated to various health education initiatives, mainly linked to hearing difficulties in childhood.

Passionate about the transformative potential of childhood and education, she believes giving children their turn and voice is urgent, truly placing them at the center because.... if we change the beginning of the story, we can change the whole story!

Short description of research profile

CESUAlg enjoys scientific autonomy and develops its lines of research in the following areas:

1. Quality of Life in Health and Illness contexts (Coordinator: Prof. Luís Pedro Ribeiro);

2. Prevention, Diagnosis, Therapeutics and Rehabilitation (Coordinator: Prof. Rui Plácido Raposo);

3. Management and Assessment in Health Technologies (Coordinator: Prof. Margarida Espírito Santo);

4. Healthy Aging (Coordinator: Prof.  Nídia Rebelo Braz);

5. Biostatistics and Epidemiology (Coordinator: Prof.  Ezequiel Marques Pinto).

CESUAlg's mission is to contribute to the progress of research, the quality of postgraduate education, and the provision of specialized services to the community in its area of expertise.

In pursuit of its objectives, CESUAlg promotes the establishment of interdisciplinary activities, linking basic and applied research to technological development, aimed at promoting Health and the Quality of Health Services.

CESUAlg also directs its activities towards the development of projects, promoting students' learning capacity, in conjunction with the research activities being developed at the University of Algarve (UAlg).
