Short description of shared resource

Specialized equipment available at the Measuring Station for Wind Energy is used for determining deformations, displacements, and stresses in structures (antenna columns, wind turbines, structures for power transfer) for loads produced by winds such as bora, scirocco, and levanter. Furthermore, the specialized equipment within the Laboratory enables wireless tracking of structural displacements across longer time intervals, enabling thus continuous recording of structural displacements caused by different types of action. The specialized equipment can be utilized at various locations of interest to industry, state institutions and other public sector bodies:

  • Ultrasonic anemometer Thies Clima - The instrument is especially suitable for the use in the fields of Meteorology, Climatology, Traffic engineering, aviation and navigation, Indoor flow measurement and in alpine field of application. The ultrasonic measurement principle allows, compared to the classic anemometers, an inertia-free measurement of running variable dimensions with highest precision and accuracy. It is especially suitable for the measurement of gust- and peak values;
  • Modular measurement tower – steel modular tower structure reaching up to forty metres in height for the positioning of measuring equipment such as ultrasonic anemometer, modular accelerometers etc;
  • GNSS sensor - The Trimble Alloy GNSS offers powerful performance with the latest GNSS technology that is easy and intuitive to use. The equipment enables wireless recording of displacements of any kind of object;
  • Trimble S9 total station – The total station is built for specialized applications such as monitoring and tunnelling. Scanning, imaging and surveying can be combined into a single action utilizing high precision measurements;
  • Modular accelerometers.
