Dr. Gabriel G. De la Torre is Director of the Neuropsychology and Experimental Psychology Lab, Assistant professor of Psychology and Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs at University of Cadiz. Spain. Dr. De la Torre research focus on Cognitive Neuroscience and Human Factors in Spaceflight. I apply my background in Neuroscience and Neuropsychology to the research I perform in Spaceflight field including adaptation to extreme environments, simulations and performance. I have previously involved in different Space related projects as a PI and in research teams including Mars 500 (2010-2013) with a project on neurocognitive performance (PI), as expert (Psychology and human-machine systems group) in the EU FP7 project “  Towards Human Exploration of Space: a EUropean Strategy” (THESEUS) project (2010-1012). He is currently a member of the European Space Agency (ESA) Research Topical Team on Ageing and Human Spaceflight (PI: Nathaniel Szewczyk). He was PI of another (ESA) Research Topical Team on Psychosocial and Neurobehavioral Aspects of Human Spaceflight (2008-2010) and currently in the research team of the NASA NSCOR for Evaluating Risk Factors and Biomarkers for Adaptation and Resilience to Spaceflight: Emotional Valence and Social Processes in ICC/ICE Environments; Grant Number 80NSSC17K0644; David F. Dinges, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania, USA (PI). Dr. De la Torre is also PI in the Spanish Government Research funded Program (2018-2022). ARES-ICE: ESP2017-89803-P: Adaptation, resilience and emotional and social processes in space analogs. Dr. De la Torre has been Preferred Psychological and Neuropsychological Services Provider (TRICARE) for military personnel deployed at U.S. Rota Navy Base (Spain). He is permanent member of the International Academy of Astronautics (Life Sciences) and has participated in different study groups within including the SG 3.12. Global Human Exploration of Space and recently joined the Cosmic Study 1.6 Protected Antipode Circle on Lunar Farside. He is member of the American Psychological Association; European Low Gravity Research Association (ELGRA) and consultant for the Skolkovo Foundation in Russia (Space Sciences), International Brain Injury Association (International Liaison Committee). Previously he has been a research fellow at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Neurosurgery (Chicago, IL. USA) (2000) and also at the Neurodevelopmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL. USA) (2014).
