The group mainly focuses on the study of various mathematical problems, from both theoretical and applied ways, using mostly discrete methods. Thus, mathematical optimization, asymptotic and statistical modeling, combinatorics, and graph theory are fundamental tools for the development of the research of the group members.
The most important lines of the group are related to combinatorics and graph theory and their applications in problems of computer science and social networks, specifically in problems of detecting communities in networks, and in measuring the privacy of social networks. In addition, the modeling of processes linked to solid and fluid mechanics, and the statistical modeling of real processes and problems also focus the group's attention.
The group has a high number of publications in journals indexed in prestigious databases, a large number of presentations in national and international conferences, and a significant number of collaborators in national and foreign centers.
