Tourism and Hospitality Competitiveness and Governance
Framework: In tourism and hospitality industry, it is important to increase tourism expenditure and to attract visitors in a profitable way, but it is also necessary to complement these practices with the creation of authentic and memorable experiences, the increasing of the well-being of the residents, the promotion of social justice and gender equality and the preservation of natural and cultural assets.

Economic Statistics
Economic statisticians employ specialised methodologies to delve into a variety of themes. The research activities of our statisticians group are primarily centred around three key areas: 1) statistical analysis of sustainability across its multifaceted aspects, including economic, social, environmental, and energy sustainability; 2) statistical models to examine corporate innovation and its impact on the labour market and human capital; 3) statistical models for finance, including the analysis of extreme values and forecasting, enhanced by sentiment analysis techniques.
Macroeconomics, Growth Development (CEFAGE-UAlg)
The group's research profile covers a wide range of topics in the fields of Economics and Finance, with particular emphasis on Financial Economics, Economic Integration, Business Cycles, Monetary Economics, Regional Economics, Economics of Innovation, Economic Policy, Labor Market, Income Inequality, Economic Growth and Development and Tourism Economic Impacts.
Monetary Economics and International Finance
The group's research covers a wide range of topics, with particular emphasis on financial economics, money and banking, econophysics, the application of agent-based models, networks, and multifractal models in the fields of economics and finance.
Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics of the University of Algarve (CEFAGE-UAlg)
The Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (CEFAGE) was created in 2006, with the aim of promoting high quality research in the areas of Management and Economics. Since 2009 CEFAGE is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) (previous project reference: UID/ECO/04007/2013; current project reference UIDB/04007/2020).
