Short description of research profile
The main objectives of our research in the field of marine biology and ecology covers mainly:
- The biology and ecology of phytoplankton and bacteria, especially cyanobacteria and their role in toxin production,
- Ecology and physiology of coastal ichthyofauna with a focus on alien species in the Baltic,
- A polyphasic approach for the taxonomy of bacteria and cyanobacteria,
- Endoliths - biodiversity and function in the environment,
- Macrophyte hologenome - interactions between epiphytes and macrophytes,
- Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of macroalgae,
- Barcoding of estuarine macrophytes,
- Finfish aquaculture,
- Fish genetics and reproduction,
- Production of triploid sterile fish
