The aim of the research group is to create a platform for specialists whose research contributes to deepening knowledge about the ways of effective linguistic interaction in various types of discourse, especially scientific-didactic and on-line, in both national and intercultural communication.

The research projects have been focused on: endocrine disruptive chemicals (bisphenol A, 4-tert-octylphenol, 4- nonylphenol); mercury and methylmercury; toxic metals; iron speciation; nutrients; carbon (inorganic and organic forms, black carbon, dissolved and suspended forms); methane; microplastic; photodegradation processes.

Scientific activities of the Department of Marine Geology cover coast, coastal zone as well as open marine water, mainly of the Baltic Sea region, with the main research focus on Quaternary geology, sedimentology, geodynamics, litho- and biostratigraphy.

Main research area concerns ecology and ecophysiology of avian seasonal migration, particularly migratory strategies of waterbirds and shorebirds within Palearctic. Our studies focus on phenology, stopovering, population composition, intra- and interspecific competition, resource partitioning as well as individual condition based on hematological and physiological measures. Moreover we monitor waterbird populations wintering in the Gulf of Gdańsk (southern Baltic).

Out team study climate variability and change in the area of the Baltic Sea basin and its relationship with global processes. We are also interested in regional processes in the area of the Northern Atlantic and Europe and relationships with local climatic, hydrological and oceanographic conditions. Further we study quantitative and qualitative description of the influence of the Atlantic Ocean on the climatic conditions in Poland, energy and mass streams between the sea surface and the atmosphere and some aspects of historical climatology.

Established only in April 2017, our Jewish Studies Research Group is a new addition to already diverse research projects and divisions at Gdansk University. We hope to communicate our interests and current activities within an informal, lively, and concise formula of a blog. Danciger Bleter’s name vaguely references a variety of small publications in Yiddish in the interwar period.

Our main concern is to establish the possibility of exchanging ideas between the members of our team and other researchers. We highly appreciate open-mindedness and commitment in solving research problems ,such as: language delay in pre-primary and primary grade children; reading and writing difficulties, as well as  vocabulary gap in schoolchildren; problems of bilingual SLT.
