The main topic of out research is evidence-based medicine research and professionalism in health. Research and publications are primarily on the themes of research integrity, clinical health-care guidelines and research education in medicine.
Research group for etiology of generalized destructive periodontal disease
We investigate the roles of extracellular matrix (ECM) components from the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) class, enzymes for biosynthesis of GAGs and cell surface receptors of GAGs in the regulation of inflammatory response in generalized destructive form of periodontal disease in humans
Biophysical investigation of organization and function of the eye lens fiber cell plasma membrane
Integrative Human Physiology
The effect of diving (SCUBA and breath hold) on cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and respiratory function using noninvasive (echocardiography, continuous blood pressure measurements, TCD, MRI, respiratory mechanics, etc) and invasive (MSNA, arterial and central venous catheterization, internal jugular vein catheterization, etc) methods. The clinical interest is related to following diseases: chronic heart failure, COPD, stroke, TIA, tetraplegia, etc.
Research in stress and psychotraumatology
The general objectives of this project proposal are to provide a comprehensive model of the pandemic effects by investigating the contribution of sociodemographic factors and pandemic related stressors to individual differences in the intensity of psychopathological symptoms (depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, self-destructive behaviours) as well as to the levels of psychosocial adjustment during the pandemic.
