Short description of research profile

The major focus is on homogeneous, transparent and thermodynamically stable liquids, such as solutions of hydrotropes, electrolytes, surfactants, as well as microemulsions. The self-organisation of molecular liquid systems and specific ion effects are in the center of interest. To characterize structure, dynamics and thermodynamic properties of such systems, a multitude of experimental methods is employed (DLS, surface tension, electrical conductivity, FTIR

Short description of research profile

The research is focused on realizations of noncommutative spaces in the context of deformation theory and their applications to geometry and physics. Specifically, we investigate realizations of the kappa-deformed space, the Lorentz and Poincare algebras as well as general Lie-algebra type noncommutative spaces by formal power series in the Heisenberg-Weyl algebras and their generalizations. We also study realizations of some Lie superalgebras which arise naturally in the geometry of differential forms on noncommutative spaces.

Short description of research profile

This multi-disciplinary group uses signal processing methods for analysis in a time, frequency and time-frequency domain in the field of the maritime and biomedicine. The main research interest of the group is a development of applied signal processing algorithms for automatic detection of Motor Evoked Potentials after excitation of brain motor cortex. Also, the group researches problems for detection of various objects on the sea bottom using deep learning algorithms.

Short description of research profile

One of the biggest challenges of today mankind is the incidence of a bacterial antibiotic resistance, which is continually growing. The antibiotic resistance is posing a global threat not only for the health system, but also in the process of food production and safety. Therefore, in our laboratory we aim to design and synthesize the heterocyclic compounds, with a special interest in quaternary ammonium salts which display a wide biological potential and biomedical application (antidotes, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, surfactants, therapeutics etc.).

Short description of research profile

Our research deals with topics linked to the acquisition and use of pragmatic features of language (primarily English) by foreign language learners, as well as breakdown, speed and repair fluency . We have dealt with young language learners, university students and adults, as well as foreign language teachers, focusing on issues such as discourse marker use, fillers, task planning, classroom talk and similar. Another aspect of our research interest is related to interculturalism in SLA, the role of L1 culture in particular.

Short description of research profile

Our research group deals with a whole range of bioethical issues, but mostly animal ethics and bioethical education. In that context and following the idea of integrative bioethics, it is open for contributions from different scientific perspectives to philosophical analysis concerning moral regard toward non-human living beings and the ways in which it can be applied in education. A chance for dialogue on these issues is especially our annual (in October) conference Days of animal STudies.
