PI bio

Francesco Calza is the Vice Dean of the Parthenope University of Naples, where he has taught Corporate strategy, Management and International Finance for a long time. He was also Professor in International Finance at the Wirtshaft University od Wien and for many MBA programs in Italy. During his scientific activity, Francesco Calza has studied growth strategies of firms in international markets, logistics and energy management. He has been the author of many studies about management, cross cultural management, with a specific focus on the internationalization process of firms from Mediterranean countries. He is also editorial board member in different international and national journals in the management area.

Short description of research profile

The research activities of the Business Management Group focus on two main areas:

  1. Business and Managerial Models for Innovation Management: This line of research examines strategies, business models, approaches, and management practices employed by startups and established companies to leverage opportunities arising from new technologies.
  2. Business and Managerial Models for Local Innovation Systems (SLI): This research investigates how territorial systems, which encompass inter-organizational networks among companies, public administration, and the research community, harness opportunities related to the development and utilization of new technologies.

Research topics encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Cross-cultural management and internationalization.
  • Marketing and branding.
  • Blue economy and port management.
  • Tourism
