Short description of research profile

LBCM has developed a recognized scientific specialty in marine biofilms study (organized populations of microorganisms growing on surfaces). Using a variety of tools and approaches that combines genetics, analytical chemistry and cell physiology, this laboratory studies the interactions between living organisms and abiotics, and promotes the biotechnological developments that emerge from them.

Short description of research profile

The main topic of research of our group is the chemical composition and biological potential of
Dalmatian aromatic and medicinal plants. The chemical composition of volatile extracts is
performing by using GC-MS-MS system, while the composition of nonvolatile extracts is performing
by using HPLC-DAD and LC-MS-MS. Among the biological potential of plant extracts and pure natural
compounds our research group is testing the antioxidant potential, the enzyme inhibition potential

Short description of research profile

The aim of the scientific group is the development of multifunctional potentiometric sensors in solid state with membranes with the addition of nano particles. A secondary objective is to develop simple potentiometric sensors for the determination of chemical species of interest that would have improved properties. Improved sensor performance will be based on simpler preparation of samples for analysis (does not matter discoloration and turbidity of the sample), improved chemical, physical and electrical properties.

Short description of research profile

The ‘Laboratoire de Chimie, Electrochimie Moléculaires et Chimie Analytique, UMR CNRS 6521 – UBO, CEMCA’ (‘Molecular Chemistry, Electrochemistry and Analytical Chemistry’ Laboratory) is a joint, CNRS and University of Brest, research laboratory. It is located in Brest at the Faculty of Science and Technology. This laboratory was created in the early eighties (1981) by the fusion into a single research unit of four teams having expertises in organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry. That is the sole research laboratory in chemistry of the University of Brest.
