Professor Pawel Antonowicz; Associate Professor at the Faculty of Management (Gdansk University, Poland), performing functions: (1) Deputy Dean for Research and Part-time studies of Management Faculty, (2) Chairman of the Council of the discipline of sciences in management and quality; (3) The head of the Department of Business Economics. In the main part of his scientific research uses selected indicators of early warning bankruptcy systems in order to prospectively evaluate the ability of enterprises to the continued operation of the functioning of business activity. In the past his research related also to the evaluation of the predictive ability of over than 50 predicting models of early warnings of bankruptcy, which mainly were based on the discriminant analysis.
The issue of restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy of companies is not only the most important focus of his research, but it is also in line with the sequential steps of his schooling and education.
In the early years of his research and teaching activity was also associated with the following Polish Universities: Gdansk University of Technology (Ocean Engineering and Shipping Department), The E. Kwiatkowski Higher School of Business Administration in Gdynia, University of Finance and Accounting in Sopot. Currently, he teaches at the University such subjects as: Strategic management, managerial decisions, and conducts scientific proceedings in order to obtain a doctoral degree.

Short description of research profile

The trademark of the Department of Business Economics is Enterprise Development Management is one of the most important research trends that are undertaken in both research and didactic work by the employees of Department of Business Economics. Enterprise Development Management issues are multidimensional, in particular, they relate to the following issues: business economics, functioning of SME sector, activity of family enterprises, establishing own business, creation of entrepreneurial attitudes; offshoring processes, business cooperation (including franchises); enterprise value management, project management;
strategic management and performing strategic analyses, operationalization of strategies (also in corporate terms), process measurement in structurally complex organization (KPIs); business excellence models and concepts, quality and environmental management, corporate social responsibility;
economic and legal conditions of restructuring and bankruptcy of enterprises, early warning systems against the insolvency of business partners; ethical aspects of business activity.

Strategic research and  expertise industry which the Department of Business Economics deals is seaports and maritime industry (core competence for many years back).

Existing collaborations within the SEA-EU alliance
1. Expert activity in the scope of developing the Innovation Strategy and Strategic Research Agenda - at the request of Grupa LOTOS S.A. 2. Strategic consulting for the Polish Gas Company (PGNiG), Port of Gdynia, the Polish Armaments Group and other Polish strategic enterprises. 3. Expertise regarding the legal, economic and political perspective of the takeover of the Navy Shipyard by the Polish Armaments Group. 4. Job evaluation in one of the heat energy companies in Gdynia. 5. Consulting regarding CSR policy creation, implementation and reporting for Port of Gdynia. 6. Valuation of projects and enterprises using various valuation methods (Valuation of the value of the technological line for the production of carrot juice; Valuation of the value of wind farm projects for the needs of estimating the damage estimation resulting from abandoning the projects).                                                                                                  7. Analysis of the possibilities of implementing innovative methodologies for determining pharmaceuticals in environmental, clinical and food samples using the GC and GC-MS techniques.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    9. ‘Innovative model of socioeconomic benefits and costs of infrastructure projects’ - The project was conducted in 2015-2017 and supported by The National Center of Research and Development IS-2/88/NCBR/2015 and was commercialized, among others, in the Port of Gdynia Authority. 10. Aquilo - developing a method for selecting the type of offshore wind turbine support structure in Polish maritime areas. Economic and financial analysis of selected support structures for offshore wind farms.                                                             11.
