(HA) EDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

The research group is set up with the overall goal to strengthen the mathematics didactic research at Nord University and, in this way, both contribute to the enhancement of the research competence of the members of the group and to the improvement of the mathematics teacher education.

Knowledge building and knowledge in education are central to the group's work. This target formulation indicates a normative positioning but is also aimed at studies of forms of knowledge and knowledge practices in education. The group has an interdisciplinary profile linked to studies of the use of technology in education, and also to surveys of knowledge, knowledge practices and educational practices in school subjects, curricula, political documents etc.

The research group has been committed to the development of research in and on Practical Knowledge as a way of both articulating the foundations of the field of studies in Practical Knowledge, as well as applying this research perspective in the context of specific practices and professions.

The research group Social Justice and Diversity in Education aims to facilitate interaction and promote research at Nord University. The group is multi- and interdisciplinary and formed around research focused on diversity, multilingualism, minority perspectives, societal sustainability, social justice in education, democracy and teacher education.

The research group studies different aspects in relation to research-based teacher education.

he research group has seven members from the Faculty of Education and Arts, Nord University, and collaboration with researchers from Åbo Akademi University, Oslo Metropolitan University, and the UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

The research group Digitization, Learning, and School Leadership works with issues and opportunities related to the use of digital learning and solutions in and for teaching and leadership in the school. The group has a clear educational research profile in addition to an emphasis on leadership, and its work is also relevant in light of university education and pedagogy.

The research group Digital Arts Lab has defined Creative Innovation, in the intersection between the humanities, arts, design and crafts and ICT, digitalisation and AI, as its thematic focus. Our projects are often rooted in or linked to education and arts & culture dissemination. With regards to this, we are interested in the whole spectrum of learners, users, and audiences; older and young learners, new and established users, and fresh and experienced audience members.

The research group focuses on music-related learning processes, their structures, contexts, influencing factors, and related didactical aspects.

The projects conducted by the group use mainly empirical approaches; a large spectrum is covered from arts-based research and qualitative studies to quasi-experimental methodological designs.

The research group Quality in Early Childhood Education and Care, and Kindergarten Teacher Education (KIBB) is a multi-methodical, interdisciplinary research group, with an overall aim to work towards increasing quality in both Early Childhood Education and Cares (ECEC) as well as in the Kindergarten Teacher Education.

Fields of research in educational settings are multidisciplinary, with a common focus on extended classroom and varied instructional methods.

Research within the research group focuses on teaching and learning in different environments outside the classroom and the use of different teaching approaches. Furthermore, the research concerns various aspects of teaching and learning, and teaching methods, such as what the types of teaching/learning can entail, and why and how these teaching methods or activities are appropriate in certain contexts.
