The Laboratoire d'études et de recherche en sociologie (formerly the Atelier de Recherche Sociologique -ARS-) is a host team (EA 3149) which develops sociological research within the University of Western Brittany and the University of Southern Brittany. It federates the fundamental and applied research work of sociologists from these two universities and researchers in human and social sciences who recognize themselves in its approach
The Centre for the Study of Correspondence and Diaries (CECJI - EA7289) is a laboratory at the University of Bretagne Occidentale specialising in the publication and study of correspondence, diaries and texts relating to personal literature. Its territorial anchorage also means that it is dedicated to the study of Breton writers in the French language.
Lab-LEX researchers are working on three research themes: vulnerability, governance and litigation. Lab-LEX organizes study days, seminars and workshops on these subjects. Moreover, this laboratory is dedicated to developing strong international relationships, allowing regular contact and interactions with partner universities around the world.
The Microbial Ecology and Biodiversity Laboratory (LUBEM, UR n ° 3882) is a research laboratory at the University of Western Brittany specializing in the study of biodiversity and the ecology of microorganisms, mainly in agriculture, food industry and environment.
The LUBEM laboratory has 2 applicative axes:
• Ecosystems with fungal components (molds and yeasts).
• Risks associated with spore forming bacteria.

- Geometry and topology;
- Dynamical systems, probability and statistics;
- Analysis, stochastic phenomena and applications.
Created since 2008, the Lab-STICC is a multidisciplinary research laboratory in the field of Information and communication science and technology. Researchers work in a single structure within one central theme: “from sensor to knowledge”.
Over the last five years, Lab-STICC members have authored more than 700 refereed journal papers, 1800 conference communications and 40 patents. Our research leadership has involved strong academic and industrial collaborations with national and international research grants amounting to more than 30 M€.
