For a long time the great part of our scientific activity has taken place in the Arctic and recently in the Antarctic as well. We work there on the basis of polar stations: The Stanisław Siedlecki Polish Polar Station in Hornsund, SW Spitsbergen and The Henryk Arctowski Antarctic Station on King George Island, Admiralty Bay. However, we also camp in other polar regions e.g. in Magdalenefjorden (NW Spitsbergen) or Bear Island.



The wide sphere of our studies includes:

Research on Scandinavian drama and theatrical traditions in Scandinavia, combining insights from theatre, literature, culture, and translation studies; especially:

The Department researchers keep close professional relations with Polish and foreign research centers, government institutions, non-governmental organizations and business practice, providing consulting and training services for both enterprises and government agencies. They participate in European projects as well as in research programs for international institutions.

Research on colour vocabulary, especially

- colour lexicons of various languages, including, inter alia, Polish, Kashubian, Russian, Croatian, English, Spanish and Chinese;

- fixed expressions with colour terms;

- colour symbolism;

- use of colour terms in various texts, including literature;

- colours from the psycholinguistic and psychological perspectives.

The titles or research work:

Scientific research of the Department's employees is focused on economic integration, regional economics and economics of innovation.

Polish and German literature (from nineteenth century to the present time) related to the so-called Tri-City (Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia) and the Pomerania Region.

• problems of sustainable urban logistics (Urban logistics, trends in the distribution of goods in the city, sustainable development, Physical Internet, Internet of Things, smart cities, e-mobility, Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), Freight-as -a-Service (FaaS), load-sharing;)

The recent project aims to verify the research thesis whether and why the constitution of the Kingdom of Poland of 1815 should be deemed a formative factor of Polish political liberalism at the time of its birth. I have adopted the assumption, that the earlier stages of the development of Polish thought were of “protoliberal” nature, while the concept of “liberalism” did not begin to emerge until 1815.
